Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Come and stay for a while!

Waiheke is the kind of magical place that fools you into thinking that it's totally legit to like the smooth sounds of a muted saxophonist playing Every Breath You Take by the Police. It's the kind of place where a bag of grapes the size of large marbles are $2 and the dairy sells rose water butter biscuits imported from Britain.

It is also the kind of place where Aucklanders helicopter in to the top of a hill for a long lunch of oysters and wine and the kind of place where there's an inordinate number of men wearing boat shoes with no socks.

Waiheke is a place you kind of would love to hate but just can't. Once you're past all the fancy wineries, overpriced home interior stores, and million-dollar beach houses, what you're left with is a lush little island with the most amazing beaches and the pinkest of sunsets. Even in the middle of winter, it still makes you feel like just maybe summer might be around the corner.
